Dr. Trevaughn Davis-Neal earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Governors State University, Master of Social Work degree from the University of Illinois Chicago’s Jane Addams College of Social Work, where she also received certification in Evidence-Based Mental Health Practice with Children and Adolescents and received her doctoral degree from Tulane University. Dr. Trevaughn also graduated from Indiana University/ Purdue University Child Welfare Innovations Management program and was recognized as a leader in child welfare in the state of Indiana. She is also certified in Nonprofit Executive Leadership by Indiana University/Purdue University as well.
With over 13 years of experience as a therapist, clinical supervisor, and coach, Dr. Trevaughn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), licensed in both Indiana and Illinois. In addition to being CEO of Nzinga Mind and Heart, she is also a Lecturer at National Louis University. Honored as one of the most influential women in Northwest Indiana by Mom to Mom magazine, she was also recognized as “A Professional to Watch” by NW Indiana Times’ IN Business magazine. Additionally, she was the recipient of the 2017 “Rising Star” Alumnae Award from the University of Illinois Chicago Jane Addams College of Social Work for her tireless dedication and commitment to helping others heal.
Dr. Trevaughn and our compassionate and dedicated therapists are committed to helping individuals and families achieve their goals. Our trauma-informed team specializes in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, compassion fatigue, grief, and other mental health or behavioral concerns. Nzinga provides unbiased, open-minded, trauma-informed care.
Dr. Trevaughn is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and volunteers as an advisory board member for several non-profit organizations. In her free time, Trevaughn enjoys spending time with family, traveling, reading, and listening to music.

Amber Smith, LCSW, received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University and her Masters of Social Work degree from Dominican University’s School of Social Work. She is also a Licensed Social Worker in the state of Illinois.
For over 9 years Amber has gained experience as a therapist, advocate, mentor, parent educator, and School Social Worker. She has had the privilege to work with clients of varying ages, and has grown a passion for supporting today’s youth. In addition to being a Clinician at Nzinga Mind and Heart, Amber is also a social worker at Rush University Medical Center. Amber is a native of Chicago, Il. and believes in pouring back into our communities, which begins at the individual level. Partnering with clients and families to identify and remove barriers that impede on overall well-being is where her passions lie. In her free-time, Amber enjoys spending time with her daughter, catching up on her favorite television shows, listening to music, and reading.

Regina Wells has earned her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Master’s degree in Addictions Studies from Governors State University. Regina is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) as well as a Certified DUI Provider. Regina is currently pre-Licensed as she continues her education and career path at Aurora University in the Master of Social Work Program (MSW).
Regina has over 8 years of experience treating addictions, trauma, harm reduction, crisis intervention, depression, and anxiety. She has found through her experience that so many individuals and families are suffering and are unable to find ways to cope with trauma and mental health conditions. Regina provides a safe space for clients to engage in interventions to develop healthy coping skills that lead to a better quality of life.
In her spare time, Regina enjoys spending time with family, traveling, watching movies, and reading.

Tai is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the states of Indiana and Illinois who has been providing mental health services for over 15 years. She has assisted numerous clients with concerns including trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, familial conflicts, work-related issues, and emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. and addiction concerns.
Tai is also experienced with working with those having issues with Stress, Grief, Anxiety, Parenting Issues, Self-Esteem, Anger Management, Career Difficulties, Mental Health Disorders, Coaching, Adoption and Foster Care, Blended Family Issues, Commitment Issues, Coping with life changes.
Tai genuinely enjoys interacting with her clients and her counseling style is warm and engaging.
